The National Museum of Indian Cinema was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 19th January, 2019 at the Films Division Complex, Pedder Road, Mumbai. The Museum is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday (11 AM to 6 PM) and will remain closed on Mondays and Public Holidays.
The entry fee to the Museum is:
- Indian Visitors above 14 yrs and above: INR 75
- Children 3 to 13 yrs : INR 40
- Foreign Citizen above 14 yrs : INR 500
- Foreign Citizen 3 to 13 yrs : INR 250
Parking is available at the Films Division Complex.
The Museum is housed in two buildings – the New Museum Building and the 19th century heritage building, Gulshan Mahal – both at the Films Division complex.. The Museum showcases history of India Cinema and has ample artefacts, digital elements including kiosks, interactive digital screens, information based screen interfaces, etc.
Film properties and costumes, vintage equipments, posters, copies of important films, promotional leaflets, sound tracks, trailers, transparencies, old cinema magazines, statistics covering film making & distribution etc. are displayed in a systematic manner depicting the history of Indian cinema in a chronological manner. NMIC not only provides a store house of information to the laymen, but also help film makers, students, enthusiasts and critics to know and evaluate the development of cinema as a medium of artistic expression.

- NMIC was inaugurated by Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 19 th January, 2019.
- A high power delegation of Parliamentarians and young leaders from Bangladesh, Consul General of P R China, delegation from US,Ms. Selvaggio Vela, Festival Director, River to River Florence Film Festival, delegates from India and abroad visited the museum.
- Hon’ble Vice President of India, & Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra visited NMIC on 26th April, 2019.

- Mr John Bailey, President of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science, California visited the Museum on Sunday, the 26 th May, 2019.
- World Environment Day was celebrated in the Museum precinct on 6 th June, 2019. Hon’ble MIB and noted film personalities planted saplings in the lawn in front of the Museum.
